Welcome to Inspire Arts Wakefield

A place to connect

About us

We are a peer led community group who welcome anyone who has had or is experiencing mental health issues. Our main aim is to create a relaxing environment for people to work in using art, creativity and crafts as tools to improve wellbeing.

By working together on shared projects our members gain confidence and connection.

In addition to our regular weekly session for those with an interest in art we are also running workshops for families, people with perinatal mental health and antenatal classes.

Research suggests that art and creativity can help reduce stress by lowering cortisol and can help with depression and anxiety.

With this in mind we are combining some creativity with peer support and information.

You do not need to be a talented artist or master sculpter to attend any of our groups or workshops.

Courses

We offer sessions and courses for adults, children and mums to be/new mums.

Adult classes

Our regular session runs every Tuesday afternoon. 13.00 until 15.00.

This is held in our art studio in the ridings on the middle floor across from the escalators.

There is a small fee for the sessions but please let us know if you are struggling financially.

The Tuesday session is for those who have an interest in art but it is not art therapy.

We run themed sessions in collaboration with other community groups and charities and we do sessions where you can create whatever you want.

We also offer a cuppa and a chance to talk to people who are or have been in similar situations.

Please contact us for more information or to book.

Children and family sessions

We run various creative workshops and messy play sessions for families and children of all ages.

Please contact us or check our Facebook page for upcoming events.

Perinatal workshops

Our perinatal sessions are open to both new mums and mums to be who are experiencing mental health issues or are feeling isolated.

We will be running courses over several weeks.

All art supplies and beverages will be provided.

It is a great opportunity to speak to others who have experienced similar issues.

Our peer support worker Sarah is also a qualified nursery nurse and will be on hand to entertain the little ones.

Please contact us to book or if you have any questions.
